Alison Abels joined the New York Philharmonic in June 2014 in the newly created position of Director of Corporate Sponsorships. A seasoned executive with proven success in building marketing partnerships in the sports, live entertainment and media space, Alison will be responsible for leading the Philharmonic’s new strategy, business development and client service.
The world-renown Orchestra and its audiences offer compelling platforms, assets and high quality demographics for leading brands to reach, engage to drive their business and enhance the guest experience. The Philharmonic’s robust season of concerts, high profile international tours, compelling digital content, star studded galas, beloved concerts in the parks and essential music education programs will be opportunities offered through the Philharmonic’s Corporate Sponsorship strategy.
Prior to the New York Philharmonic, Alison was Sr. Director of Sales at Live Nation responsible for integrated sponsorship sales across Live Nation’s portfolio of music venues including House of Blues and The Fillmore theaters, tours, music festivals and digital assets. Before Live Nation, Alison held two roles over the course of eight years at Madison Square Garden. Most recently, she was the Director of Entertainment and Sports responsible for sponsorships sales for a multitude of world famous venues, iconic theatrical productions and legendary sports properties including Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, Beacon Theatre, Radio City Christmas Spectacular, WTA Tennis, College Basketball, Championship Boxing and the Grammy Awards. Alison’s prior role was as Director of Event Sponsorship overseeing client service and activation across MSG’s sports and entertainment properties and venues.
Previously, Alison secured senior positions in the entrepreneurial, venture capital space with pioneering digital arts and entertainment companies Arts4All, Ltd. and Redcloud Mobile. Financed by private investment, Telcordia Technologies and AT&T, these businesses were conceived to navigate the intersection of content and its distribution through emerging digital technologies. Alison’s responsibilities included the production of original arts and entertainment content for cross-platform distribution, the creation of compelling digital marketing partnerships for brand building and the development of new digital audiences.
Alison holds a B.A. in English and Theatre from Bucknell University. She’s an Emeritus Board member of the University’s Association for the Arts and served as its president.
