Russ Torres

An award-winning broadcast news producer and journalist, Russ Torres has used his nearly two decades of experience in network broadcast television covering world and national events to create meaningful multimedia programs across all digital platforms. As Vice President of Digital Video Content and Strategy at the Gannett/USA Today Network he is primarily responsible for development, strategy, and programming of all digital video content across 109 digital properties in the USA Today Network, and the flagship site, USAToday.com.

Prior to joining USA TODAY NETOWRK, Russ was Head of Yahoo Studios where he oversaw development of original video content for Yahoo Finance, Yahoo Sports, Yahoo News and lifestyle properties (Yahoo Style, Beauty, Food, Movies, TV, Travel, and Tech) overseeing the day-to-day execution of nearly 40+ digital video programs across the entire Yahoo network.

Prior to joining Yahoo, Russ managed the daily operation of the BET’s news department as Director of BET News. Russ was point for all coverage of the 2008 Presidential campaign, election night coverage, the inauguration, and the Democratic and Republican Conventions, and was one of the producers on the first ever BET/MTV/CMT town hall event, “A Conversation with President Obama”. In addition, Russ was the executive in charge of "6 Minutes," BET.com’s groundbreaking digital documentary series and oversaw all editorial of broadcast and digital news coverage for BET’s annual Tent Pole productions, including the BET Awards.

Russ has also worked as a producer at NBC News’ Today Show, where he produced a wide range of lifestyle, personal finance, business and financial news segments. He was one of two to launch the hugely popular personal finance consumer series, “Tricks of the Trade”. Before joining NBC, Russ was a producer for CBS News on The Early Show, an Associate Producer at 60 Minutes II, an Associate Producer for Public Eye with Bryant Gumbel, and an Assignment Editor for the CBS News Assignment.

Russ received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Temple University and his Juris Doctorate from Fordham University’s School of Law.
