Todd is currently the Vice President Marketing, Colas / Pepsi TM where he is responsible for leading PepsiCo’s flagship brand - Pepsi. In his role, he is responsible for overseeing all brand creative, communications and commercial execution across Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and Pepsi Zero Sugar while building out a long term strategy and new product innovation for the brand. Under Todd’s leadership, the Pepsi brand is now back in growth for the first time in the past seven years, with a reinvigorated challenger spirit and a strong cultural presence. Prior to this role, Todd oversaw PepsiCo’s multi-billion dollar US Water Portfolio where he transformed PepsiCo’s overall approach to water resulting in PepsiCo becoming the #1 driver of growth in the US water category. During his tenure, Kaplan launched two of the biggest innovations in PepsiCo history in LIFEWTR (premium water) and bubly (sparkling water), delivering close to $500MM in sales in their first 2 years alone.
Throughout his leadership roles at PepsiCo, Todd has consistently brought creativity, strategic thinking, and passion, whether leading marketing for Mountain Dew, overseeing Pepsi’s NFL and MLB sponsorships, or creating disruptive new beverage innovation products. Prior to joining Pepsi, Todd worked for Millsport LLC, a sports marketing consultancy, where he oversaw the VISA International business.
Todd was recently named one of the “Top 25 Most Innovative CMO’s” in the world by Business Insider and one of the country’s 40 most innovative marketers under 40 years old by Brand Innovators. He has been profiled on the cover of Event Marketer magazine, and is a recurring contributor to AdWeek. Todd is passionate about building brands that have a strong brand purpose, as he has been a featured mainstage speaker on the subject at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity and South by Southwest. Todd holds a BA in Economics from Northwestern University, and an MBA from Yale University.
